Beautiful all wood hand carved Toys and
Ornaments Imported from "Georgia" on the Black Sea in Europe
Welcome to the world of fine heirloom artistically crafted and organically
colored white maple, birch and alder wood toys imported from the beautiful country of Georgia. In April, 2002, we
became the exclusive North American distributor of these wonderful toys. Each
time a shipment comes they look more beautiful than the last. We are very
excited about our product and welcome you all to come in, become a little child
again, and share our enthusiasm.
Our Mission
Company's Mission: The toy should be pedagogically
correct, giving substance to: 1) its meaning, 2) artistic value, 3) quality.
Company Profile
Our company is located in Seattle, Washington. Our little bookshop's shelves,
filled with books by Rudolf Steiner founder of the Waldorf School Movement, are
overflowing with these lovely hand crafted toys from the Republic of Georgia. I have a personal connection to
the Seattle Waldorf School as its founder (1980) along with the late Ronald F.
Moss (1921-1996), who founded the Dr. Rudolf Steiner Bookstore in 1976.
Also, as the founder of The Willow Branch Puppet Theater and the
Pacific Northwest School of Puppetry, I am very connected to beauty, quality and
the creative imagination, these qualities of goodness, beauty and truth
are acquired in the child's years of play with natural, living materials, and thus wish only to offer these qualities to you
and your children
The toys were discovered in a little toy shop in Georgia by a dear friend Monica Gold, who visits Georgia and Russia every year taking her non-profit Isis
Cultural International Society group with her who are
interested only in helping those who are asking to establish Waldorf Education
in their countries, when, lo and behold, she discovered that some of the toys were being made
by a group of about 14 who are connected to the Waldorf School Movement in their
area.
This discovery took place in July 2001 and at the end of October of that year
we imported our first shipment of toys. When everyone saw these toys they could
not say enough about them, ex: "They are more beautiful than all the other toys
I am familiar with and these artists have been able to capture the inner soul
quality of the animals."
So, enter in, become a little child, lose yourself in the creative world of
play and come back regularly as there are always new creatures appearing.
